What is Grass?
Grass is a DePIN (Decentralized Physical Infrastructure Network) that uses residential bandwidth to collect publicly available web data for AI training datasets. AI companies need enormous volumes of diverse, clean web data to train their models — and sourcing it through real residential connections is far more representative than scraping from data centers.
How it works
Your Pi routes web data collection requests through your real home internet connection. The data collected is publicly available web content — nothing private is accessed. Grass operates as a transparent bandwidth layer, and the open-source nature of the project allows community verification of what data is being collected.
What you earn
You earn GRASS tokens, which are tradeable on major cryptocurrency exchanges. GRASS launched its token in late 2024 and has an active community. Early node operators have historically received favorable token allocations. Earnings depend on your uptime and bandwidth availability.
Setup on PiLoader OS
